Jack's time on the bench

I went and sat on a bench today as an experiment, to put myself in the same position as the character within the dark experimental film. This way I would have a better idea of what the character would be doing whilst they're sitting there and how other people around them would react.

When I was sat on the bench, I found myself looking around at other people and wondering where they were going to and what sort of life they live just from their appearance. I also found myself getting colder and colder as I just sat there listening to music. It's not often that people sit on their own on a bench in a park, at this time of year, so I image that people must have thought that I was weird had too much time on my hands or there was so reason I couldn't go to my house. This is because it's not seen as normal for people to just sit on a bench rather than being in a warm place, when the weather outside is so cold. If I was with a friend, and we were sitting and talking, I believe it would give me more of a purpose for being there, so would look less odd. It would also seem less strange if I was sat somewhere that had a beautiful scenery because I would be sat there to look at the scenery. I believe that people question why you do things, including why people are doing certain things.

What I have learnt is that the character in the film will be paying a lot of attention to the environment around them and they will be sat on that bench for a reason. For example, they could be sat on a bench in a graveyard, because they would be morning someone that's died. Or they could be sat on the side of a hill looking at some beautiful scenery. Another reason they could be sat on a bench is because they're watching someone who reminds them of someone that they've lost. For example, watching a family in a park because they've lost of a child or a parent.
