Edit First cut.

How I Find Editing My First Experimental

When it came to editing the rushes for this experimental I found that assembling the cutaways was the hardest.
I couldn't quite imagine how it would go. I followed the story board that Lauren and the group had created and then it started flowing a lot better.

Gathering the voice overs was a challenge. I found with the few I managed to gather that the best way to get the right results was to give them a brief.

Example Brief
"We have made a short experimental film about the cliche of death. What we want from your voice over is for you to simply point them out and say your opinion, weather you understand them or not, or if you think they make sense. Be as honest as you want, and swearing is aloud. "

The most complicated part after gathering the voice overs was choosing what we wanted where.
Myself, Joe, Nicole and Lauren all decided on the best parts and started to compile them on the audio track and decide which sounded better where and also which would benefit the experimental film more.

So far the edit is going well but from feedback through the voice overs we still need to shorten a few shots down to make the film flow a bit better.  Two shots that people kept mentioning was the flower time lapse ( although I don't agree with this because it has a purpose) and the folding of the news paper.

Things that went well and are going well.

The production of this film was adequate. It was done on time with no hassle and all the paper work that needed to be done before filming was done.
We all worked together as a team. Trying our hand at getting the shot on each day of filming.
During editing we grouped together to find the correct type of voice over for the film.
