Lauren's Time on The Bench....
Last week I sat on a bench in the train station. It felt cold and lonely. No one notices you and they pass by getting on with their day. Occasionally someone will sit next to you but they won't look up to acknowledged you, most of the times they will be on their phones. I imagine the woman in the film would be unnoticed too.
I looked at a few short films none really were helpful but it was interesting.
* modern baseball music video for your graduation
- emotionless man
* counterparts one of their music videos has a good style and decaying flower (yet to find the name of it)
* too quick to judge
- I like the staging of the first shot
* the most beautiful thing
- again the first shot
* park bench paranoia
- again not too helpful but this had an interesting perspective
- Good shots, the side close up of his hands and lap would relate to the dead woman in our film
* park bench
- not the same story and more comedic however it's black and white and has the kinda shot style and vibe I imagine with our film in a way.. Kinda
* The bench 16mm short film
- I really like the setting and vibes!
- Staging
Then I thought of clichés associated with death/coming to an end as I personally would like to go with the cliché rout for our film.
The following things can be considered for the cutaways for our film;
* cigarette dying
* Flower dying (Lillies are the flower associated with death according to google)
* Cross/ churches
* Grim reaper
* Book ending
* Food rotting
* Urn
* Crow
* Clock or hourglass (really like this)
* Tombstone
* Bones
I also believe the back story for our woman could be something along the lines of:
Her husband divorce her and shortly after she lost her job. However with the money from the divorce she buys fancy clothes and alcohol to feel something. She has no children, no life and falls into a state of depression.
- the fancy clothes being in black to represent funeral clothes
- Age really depends on who we can get actor wise
